| I seem to be dominating this section lol. I just can't help shipping the love interests with someone else other than the player character! Or, in this case, with each other.
I can't remember exactly when I started shipping them, but I always felt like they had the most romantic/sexual chemistry with each other out of, well, out of pretty much all the DA2 companions. Merrill clearly admires Isabela greatly and finds her fascinating, while Isabela is one of the few companions who is genuinely nice to Merrill and firmly believes she's one of the best people in the group. That, and she constantly calls Merrill "Kitten"...
As far as relationship headcanons with them, I can't really see them getting together until after the events of DA2. Apart from possibly romancing Hawke or being friends-with-benefits with Fenris, Isabela probably wouldn't have any interest in a relationship within the group until it's no longer a group. For my personal canon, Merrill joins Isabela on her ship when everyone goes their separate ways because she's always found Isabela's stories of the sea so romantic, plus she feels like it would be hard for her to join another Dalish clan and harder still to remain a city elf with the mage uprising. Besides, she wants to see Llomeryn for herself because Isabela always makes it sound so wonderful. It doesn't really take long for Isabela to realize she's been falling in love with Merrill but it does take her a while to accept that she is worthy of Merrill and that Merrill can see goodness in her even when she can't in herself. |

| I have such a soft spot for this pairing as well! I don't have any specific headcanons regarding them yet, but they look so cute together! I can definitely see them sailing off into the sunset together  |

| I came up with most of my headcanons because I came up with three lines for a fic and needed a way to justify them:
*Isabela and Merrill having some sort of argument*
Isabela: If you hate it so much, then why are you still here?
Merrill: Because I love you!
Isabela: ...Why?! |
