So for my birthday this year, I got both World of Thedas books. I haven't gotten a chance to read them all the way through yet but the thing that really caught my eye was the cookbook section in volume 2. I found this tumblr post that has pictures of all the recipes. It's... an adventure. Click here to read it!
My personal favorite for the sheer ridiculousness is the Starkhaven fish and egg pie. It's apparently based on a real thing called stargazey pie and to me it's simultaneously horrific and charming. I can't say if I'd eat any of them other than the desserts and soups (and maybe the nug-nug and that Dalish one), but it sure is a fascinating look into the everyday life of Thedas.
Anyway, would you try any of those? Have you tried any of those? Do you have any other food headcanons? Let's talk food in Thedas!

I only got it recently myself, and I must admit I flipped straight to minor NPC backstories, but this is fantastic!

@NorroenDyrd I'm writing a fanfic involving Sebastian's bid to reclaim the throne (and developing a relationship with Bethany along the way) so I was looking for any Starkhaven lore I could get and the fish pie was beyond my wildest dreams. I've started to headcanon it as Sebastian's favorite food and any non-Starkhaveners he serves it to have reactions ranging from amusement to abject terror at the fish faces staring at them.

Here's a video of someone attempting Pig Oat Mash, it's pretty entertaining lol:
Personally, I really like the look of that banana bread. It's something up my alley.
My headcanon is that Seheron is Southeast Asia/Philippines so I imagine there being dishes from there inspired by Filipino food - like a lot of seafood, tropical fruits, rice, lots of grilled meat. Vinegar-y and salty flavors. Fermented fish and all that.
If you ask Bull about Seheron he mentions a vendor selling a type of sandwich thing with fish. I know it's not the exact description but I headcanon that it's somewhat similar to lumpiang sariwa, just with fish.

@Cullenvhenan Ooh I'll definitely watch that! Also might steal that headcanon about Seheron and change my adopted Cousland's backstory to have her bio dad be from Seheron...
Also, I like to imagine that Isabela is the woman in the description for the banana bread

I don't have the book in front of me right now so I can't remember most of the recipes, but that nug thingy looks hella cute! And I do want to try that Starkhaven fish and egg pie too someday but I'm such a bad cook I'm afraid I might screw it up, lmao.
@ohhgreywarden I have the same headcanon. I do believe it's heavily implied Isabela is the woman in the banana bread description.

@CocotteJenn I would SO eat the nug-nug, it's adorable and also has inoffensive ingredients lmao.
The image of Isabela baking banana bread for the Kirkwall crew is so good, I'm absolutely incorporating that into headcanons and fanfic!

What's really funny about the Nug-Nug is that when we were kids (long before Dragon Age) that used to be my little brother's nickname for me.
